Get Involved

Have you always wanted to help or work with animals? This page is designed to help lead you on a path that will help set you up to succeed in doing just that! We have listed multiple different ways to make a difference in an animals life, or to have working alongside animals be your everyday career. We may be bias, but its one of the most fulfilling ways to devote your time.

Ways to Help

At Your Local Shelter or Rescue

Every shelter needs staff (paid) and volunteers to run it. The animals wont get fed, walked, enrichment, medical care or adopted out without a dedicated team of people coming together daily to aid in their day to day tasks. Enrichment is HUGE in the success of these animals, making them approachable and wanted by potential adopters is key.

Transports

Rescues and shelters need people who are willing to transport animals to foster homes, vet appointments, to/from the airport/ferry. This is a low commitment task that is a huge help, the only cost to you is your gas.

Fostering

Fostering whole heartedly saves lives. Whether you are a "foster fail" or a foster who keeps having the animals successfully get adopted where you can open your doors to another, you are saving 3 lives each time. The adopted, the new foster and the kennel/intake space that was opened because of you. Foster families are set up with all the supplies you need, no cost to you unless you choose to spoil the animal.

Fundraising

Fundraising is a great way to support a local rescue if you are not able to physically have a animal, if your a student or you have a little extra time on your hands to help out your local community. Bottle Drives, 50/50's, Auctions and GoFundMe pages are some highly successful ways of raising funds.

Sponsor An Animal

Sponsoring an animal (or a few) is a great way of supporting international and local rescues foundations and sanctuaries. This ensures this specific animal is taken care of until his/her adopter comes along or in the case they live out their lives in the sanctuary setting.

Donate

Donating is a fantastic way to support local rescues so they can continue to do the good work that they do. Most rescues have a way to donate monthly or a one-time donation. Donations go towards ongoing veterinary expenses (which are high), food, shelter, toys, bedding, leashes and collars.

"I worked for 8 years in multiple different fields within the Veterinary clinic. I started as an assistant and gradually expanded my role, helping technicians with lab work while also supporting reception when needed. If you're interested in science or medicine, veterinary medicine is an incredible place to start - it will quickly steal your heart and keep you hooked. The work can be challenging, but its also deeply rewarding, and you'll witness some truly amazing and spectacular moments along the way. Veterinary clinics often become like family, and even on the tough days, the animals remind you why the work matters."

- Celina V. (Veterinary Assistant)
