Who We Are
& why we're here

Our Mission Matters
The Timeless Animal Safe Haven Network is dedicated to the global adoption of animals, to end animal homelessness, and stop the cycle of our current shelter system. It was created to help the unwanted and discarded animals of our world find their way home .... no borders, just love in mind.
We provide information on adoptable pets that are currently in rescues internationally and locally, focusing on the ones who may be having a bit more of a tough time being placed. We aid in the adoption journey and help provide information on resources you will need to provide for your new or current animal.
Our goal is to nurture a compassionate community while raising awareness about animal welfare and the importance of providing forever homes for our furry friends. We believe every animal has their person waiting for them, we are here to help lead the animal to the human willing to find them.
Vancouver Island is any dogs dream, if everyone here who wanted a new animal, adopted, we could save many animals from both local shelters and around the world, all while aiding in helping shut down puppy mills and backyard breeders as they would have no one to buy their animals which means they must surrender them and stop the cycle. Hundreds of thousands of animals get euthanized yearly due to lack of space in North Americas shelter system, that is just North America, let that sink in. The problem is not the shelters, it is the humans who get a new animal and treat it as though it is a old shoe that can be discarded, or have no real expectation of what it takes to own and provide proper care for an animal. Animals are a commitment, a responsibility, and there needs to be stricter laws prohibiting certain individuals from gaining access to them (i.e. Breeder Registry and an Animal Abuser Registry).

We are here to help potential adopters find their new loved one, and help make the adoption process easier by preparing people for what they can expect as well as sending adoptable animals who may fit your criteria, your way. We hear quite frequently the feedback that adoption is too frustrating or disappointing if you are not chosen, that the applications are too extensive, and that it is just easier to go the "purebred puppy from a breeder route". Our hope is to ease this process with the goal of higher adoption rates, and a larger ratio of happy adopters being matched with the animal of their choosing by using our resource as a way of finding potential fits to present to you. We also acknowledge that some people believe they need to pick their animal, or the animal chooses them, we agree this can be a true statement. Our job would just be leading you down the proper path to find that potential match.

About Our Founder
Shelbie Montagnaro was born and raised in Victoria, BC, Canada. She grew up in a household full of animals and quickly found herself getting immersed in the animal/rescue world. At 17, Shelbie started a job at a local Pet Store, but quickly realized Veterinary Medicine was a interest of hers and got a job as a Veterinary Assistant at the age of 18. Since then she has worked in multiple different clinics/hospitals, in different capacities, in both large and small medicine.

At 20 years old a Veterinarian she worked for invited her down to Rincon de Guayabitos, Mexico to volunteer at a free spay/neuter clinic that was put on by (at that time) Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue, now JBay Animal Resources, in partnership with the Mexi-Can Vet Project. Her passion for rescue work grew exponentially during this trip, opening her eyes to the need of animals internationally, in small towns and lesser known cities. Education for youth became so evidently needed to try and prevent abuse and teach the importance of disease control, population control (through spays and neuters) and what it means to provide for an animal. After multiple trips back to these beautiful coastal towns, and transporting dogs back to Canada for adoption that were saved and discarded at the clinics, Shelbie wanted to do more. She continued to work in Veterinary medicine, while continuing to foster animals in her community, until October of 2020, then decided she wanted her main focus to be working with animal rescue and rehabilitation, as this was her true passion within the industry, while pursuing her full-time career.
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, October of 2020, she got involved with B.E.T.A Lebanon. She flew to Beirut, and began her journey with this incredible organization. The torture and neglect of animals in this region of the world was undeniable and working with the people of B.E.T.A and the animals on their streets and in their shelter, quickly became a heart project of hers, and remains this way to this day. So much so, she began The Timeless Animal Safe Haven Network, in hopes that she could get more animals out of the shelter and into loving homes in Canada, knowing they will flourish. Through her travels around the world, she has seen first hand the treatment of animals in many different countries, one day the hope is that not a single animal will have to fight for survival, food or safety on the streets. That each soul will feel loved and at peace.

She began this passion project out of love and respect for the animals on this planet and every human dedicating their life to help them. She does not see borders, and believes there is a home for every animal out there.
