We work with dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments with proven, force-free methods.
2 / Authentic Canine
At Authentic Canine, we take pride in committing to the highest standards in the industry with humane, reward-based methods to ensure a positive training experience. By reinforcing behaviours we like and replacing unwanted behaviours with healthy alternatives, we help dogs make desirable choices.
When faced with fear, anxiety or aggression, we work to strategically change the emotional response to create a happier, more relaxed dog. These methods are grounded by science and preserve the physical and emotional well-being of dogs. We are dedicated to providing a supportive and dignified client experience.

4 Dirty Paws Pet Grooming
Hi everyone I'm Jennifer and welcome to my page!
I was born and raised here on beautiful Vancouver Island B.C. in 1992 and am proud to call it my home!
I grew up playing and eventually working at my family's long running (over 40 years) boarding and breeding business, Dogwood Boarding Kennels. I can never remember a time when I was not surrounded by dogs (and cats) of all shapes and sizes and it is there that I developed my love and devotion to animals. as a child I started out walking clients dogs for 25 cents ( haha) and progressed to helping my parents wash and groom the animals. Having found my passion, I took over all grooming duties and with the support of my family, started my own business (4 Dirty Paws) when I was a teenager and the rest is history!
I look forward to meeting you and your pets!

Artists
Below you will find a group of talented individuals who share our love for animals. They all have an individual gift and style and create works of art worth the investment.
Kacey Samantha
Kacey Samantha is a Vancouver Island, BC-based artist working primarily in acrylic, mixed media, and special effects on canvas and panel. As a self-taught, emerging artist, she creates in the evenings and on weekends while raising her young son.
Her work is driven by a desire to quiet the mind, using color, texture and both traditional and unconventional tools to create layered, expressive pieces. Blending abstraction and illustrative line work, Kacey explores urban and rural scenes alongside distinctive animal portraits.
Working from photographic references, she reimagines everyday moments-capturing lifestyle, wildlife, and beloved pets through a contemporary, West Coast lens. Her paintings balance figurative subjects with intuitive, abstract backgrounds, offering a whimsical and textured interpretation of the natural world.

Natalia da Costa
Natalia is an animal rescuer and visual artist based in Victoria, BC. Her art journey began as a therapeutic medium while she rehabbed from a spinal cord injury and navigated PTSD. As an artist with aphantasia (no minds eye), she relies on deep observation rather than imagination, often painting the subjects she is most intimately connected to - animals. For Natalia, painting a clients pet is an act of recognition and reverence. Many of the dogs she works with have endured neglect, displacement, or trauma and her portraits aim to honor not only their likeness, but their resilience and emotional presence. Through bold color palettes and attentive detail, her work captures the dignity of each animal and the profound bond they share with their guardian.

Natalia has been actively involved in rescue since 2022, beginning her work with FurBae, predominantly supporting sighthounds from Qatar. She found particular fufillment in working with reactive dogs - earning their trust and guiding guardians through fear-free, force-free approaches. Her own dog, Amigo, is a reactive bully breed rescue who was unkowingly sourced from an unethical organization. This experience further solidified Natalia's commitment to ethical rescue practices and advocacy grounded in compassion, transparency and behavioral science.

Sabirova Photography
"Hi! My name is Olga, and photography has been a huge part of my life for many years. I absolutely adore animals, and for me photography and nature have always gone hand in hand. I’ve been vegetarian for around 15 years, and I’ve always felt a very deep emotional connection to animals and the natural world. Capturing genuine emotions, love, and connection, whether between people or their pets, is one of the biggest inspirations behind my work."

Jocelyn
Van island photo
“Hey, I’m Jocelyn! In 2022, I decided to combine my love for dogs and photography. Based on Vancouver Island, I capture authentic and wild portraits of your best friend.
Growing up on the island, my love for the outdoors and photography began at a young age. With over a decade of experience in the canine industry, I decided to combine my two favorite things - rugged Vancouver Island and dogs. My signature style of photography is marked by natural colours, dynamic lighting and the ability to capture your dog’s personality.
My dedication to photography, combined with my love and knowledge of dogs is what sets me apart from other photographers. I would love the opportunity to work with you and your dogs!"
