Flight to Freedom

Our ongoing goal in support of getting every last animal that is fit to fly out of the B.E.T.A rescue and on their Flight to Freedom...

BETA is one of our beloved rescue partners, home to over 1250 animals of all shapes and sizes. We are continuously striving to find ways to place every animal from BETA in a Canadian home. Some wont see the outside of the shelter, but so many would thrive if they were given the chance to come to Canada and be placed in forever homes of their own.

A few years ago we started brainstorming and researching avenues to get larger amounts of animals out of Lebanon at a time. The one conclusion we reached that made sense was chartering a plane from Lebanon through to Canada (Vancouver Island). This would be no small feat.

One flight can carry roughly 150 souls on board, the catch, it would cost roughly $150,000-$200,000. To clear the shelter (less the animals not fit to fly) it would take approximately 7 trips, costing $1,050,000-$1,400,000 total. Each flight would have a Veterinarian accompanying the animals on their travels along with a few flights volunteers.

Once they arrive in Victoria, the plan would be to create a temporary shelter in one of the hangers at the airport. This would be a 100% volunteer run project, spearheaded by our founder, along with our rescue partners. The shelter would be staffed 24/7 by volunteers, would have volunteer Veterinarians on standby, donations and supplies would be gathered beforehand.

Every dog/cat would be vetted before coming to Canada. Most we would aim to be adopted before they even arrive. For those that are not, the hanger would act as a temporary home - where adopters can set up appointments for viewings. Once the majority of the animals are placed in their forever homes, another flight would commence. Full funding would need to be in place before each rescue mission began, this will be a LARGE endeavor, but one we feel is truly important.

BETA has been operating at over capacity for years now, the intakes are relentless, much like many shelters globally, however the war makes the situation insurmountable. Larger action must be taken to see a difference. These souls deserve homes of their own, a safe place to rest their heads, not hearing bombs and sirens as they try and fall asleep each night.

Please help support this mission. Let's bring them home!
